Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Do you love a smoothie but hate feeling cold when the Fall weather hits?! This pumpkin pie smoothie brings in all of the warming, spiced fall flavors while also keeping your body and digestion happy!

Check out my pro-tips for fall/winter smoothies:

  1. Eat out of a bowl with a spoon:

    • this slows down your consumption of the smoothie and encourages chewing to increase your digestive juices and reduce bloat

  2. Eat at room temp or warm it up

    • I love using steamed veggies/fruits or letting my frozen fruit come to room temp during the colder months

  3. Add warming spices

    • spices like ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and turmeric help to support digestive fire

  4. Add seasonal produce

    • add fall fruits/veg like sweet potato, butternut squash and cooked apple

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 date (soaked is best!)

  • 1.5 T ground flax seeds

  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower rice

  • 1/2 cup zucchini

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

  • extra pinch of cinnamon

  • 1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk

  • toppings: chopped walnuts or pecans, grain free cereal or low sugar granola

How you do it:

  1. Throw it all in a blender (make sure high speed!)**

  2. Pour into a bowl with toppings of choice!

Makes 1 serving

**optional but recommended: slice zucchini into thick slices and steam until tender; freeze or use warm (steaming helps make this more digestion friendly!)
