Matcha Latte-3 Ways!

Matcha is a form of green tea where the leaves are ground up into a powder and therefore it is even more packed with polyphenols (think detox/healthy skin) and L theanine (think stress relief, sleep support) than a steeped loose leaf green tea.

I love drinking it in latte form by adding in some healthy fats via coconut butter; coconut =a naturally antifungal/antimicrobial fruit that is good for your gut! I also like to sneak in a source of protein via unflavored collagen peptides. I add maca powder for balancing energy and hormones as well!

This brand is my current favorite thanks to it’s yummy flavor and high potency of polyphenols (they also test for metals and contaminants).

Basically, an anti-stress, energy balancer in a mug:)

3 methods for making my favorite matcha latte listed below (ordered by simplest->most effort involved, but tastiest!)

What you need:

  • 1.5 tsp organic Matcha powder (use code ‘grounded’ to save $!)

  • 1 tsp coconut butter/manna

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice

  • 2 scoops collagen peptides (to boost protein and gut healing/skin benefits!)

  • 2 T boiling water

  • 1 cup organic unsweetened vanilla almond or plant based milk of choice

  • optional: 1/2 tsp maca powder or adaptogenic powder of choice

  • optional sweeteners: 2-3 drops liquid organic monk fruit or 1/2 tsp local honey

How you do it:

  • Stovetop method:

    • Warm and whisk together all ingredients in a small pot on the stove until well combined

  • Blender method:

    • Warm milk on the stove and then place all ingredients (hot water first) into a vented blender/vitamix and blend until frothy

  • Handheld frother method:

    • Spoon matcha into a cup with spices and collagen

    • Pour in hot water first and whisk together until all collagen is dissolved

    • Warm/whisk milk in a pot on the stove with coconut butter and maca until melted, use a handheld frother to froth the milk in the pot and then pour over and mix into your cup of matcha, serve immediately

Make it a mindful moment-sit, sip and savor!
